Emilla
Emilla products are designed by two lovely designer girls, and made by a very talented seamstress. The girls met in the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. The original line was based on Móni's ideas and plans, and she writes and translates the instructions, while also organizing the manufacturing and packaging. Her partner, Judit corrects the patterns, and every little detail around the texiles is worked out by her expert knowledge. Thanks to Judit the prototype and the product was made in time based on Móni's idea. Now Gabriella sews the pads in her magnificent little workshop. She is a close friend of Móni, and have been a seamstress for 25 years.
The idea of Emilla cloth pads came from Móni's grandmother, "Emilla mama", who told her about wartime experiences, and how then women would sew their own pads. They were forced to be creative, as because of rationing there was not enough fabric. The pads were made of 100% natural materials, and it was a nice pastime of women in the small village Óhíd in Zala county, Hungary. They got together and organized sewing clubs where they made the washable cloth pads.
As Mónika listened to her grandmother's story, she started researching on the internet if there was something similar nowadays too. She was surprised to realize the positive feedback, but found out there was no such product in Hungary yet.
Emilla products are eco-friendly and healthy alternative to disposable pads and tampons.
